Hoe zijn Sunny en Alice ontstaan?

I had been sketching characters talking, always 2 of them, one had a question, the other an answer.
I called the sketches ‘thoughts’.
Those characters eventually became a little blond girl (like my little blond daughter) and a Dachshund (my agent has a lovely Dachshund called Gatsby).
Heeft Alice een bepaalde rol in jouw leven?
(Does Alice have a role in youre real life? Or is she a real fictional character)
Alice is inspired by my own daughter, also called Alice.
Heb je lang over het schrijven van dit boek gedaan?
(How long did the creating of the book took you)
I had been collecting sketches of the ‘thoughts’ for a while, but when my publisher offered me a book deal everything then happened quite quickly because I had already created quite a lot of content already.
Zijn dit ik vraagstukken die in jouw hoofd hebben rondgetolt of heb je je brein echt op ‘jonge’vraagstukken afgesteld voor dit boek?
(Are these also questions that are running around in youre own head, or did you realy made them up for them little ones?)
Some are my own thoughts or questions, but many come from conversations with my children.
I have a boy and a girl, and it’s my chats and walks with them that inspire a lot of what I do.
I dont think the ‘thoughts ‘ work as well though, if they are not something that everyone can relate to, children and adults alike.
